Press Release
On September 28th, 29th, and 30th, fans of Science Fiction and Fantasy in the Cincinnati area and beyond will have a new reason to get excited: Pandoracon, a weekend convention of all things geeky. Guests of honor include Travis Richey from the leading Doctor Who parody Inspector Spacetime, British actor Jason Carter from the award winning TV show Babylon 5, and many other authors, artists, and creators of fandom.
Pandoracon is a participatory convention that captures all aspects of science fiction, fantasy, anime, comics, gaming, and general nerdom. Pandoracon is different with its fresh approach to multi-genre convention. The three day event is is a dynamic experience that offers opportunities to participate in all sorts of activities. Expect the fundamental elements of a convention such as discussion panels, video gaming, costume contests, tabletop gaming, vendors market, and exhibitors, but also expect A LOT MORE! Music and entertainment is provided by Ford Theatre Reunion, The Chaotic Good (and their eight foot tall dancing robot), Zahara’s Tangled Web (with their Doctor Who themed bellydancing), Pickled Brothers Circus, and more. Events such as cardboard tube wars, Nerf dueling, zombie games, and more will fill the weekend as part of the overarching Houses of Pandora competition.
All attendees of the convention will be divided into four Houses of Pandora: clubs, diamonds, hearts, and spades; each House has a crown, a king or queen, determined at the Midsummer Masquerade at Loveland Castle this July. Led by their king or queen, the four Houses will compete in a variety of the events and games throughout the weekend, earning points to see which House emerges in first place come Sunday afternoon’s closing ceremony. What role will the jokers and aces play in this mix? Join us to find out at the show.
Weekend badge holders, over the age of 21, can also get a little wild with the series of after-show parties hosted by the infamous Traveling Revelers, local Klingon garrisons, the League of Cincinnati Steampunks, and other fan groups.
This is going to be a weekend of nerd-filled fun that no dork or geek will want to miss. The show is being held at The Crown Plaze Hotel in Blue Ash. For more information visit www.pandoracon.com
