COMICS PORTAL: Superman Again Teams Up with Spider-Man!

Wayne HallBy Wayne HallOctober 13, 20256 Mins Read

A sure sign of success is when the same kind of thing happens again and again. Well, the Batman/Deadpool team-up seems to be “spawning” all kinds of crossovers… and I like it!

    SUPERMAN/SPIDER-MAN RETURNS!

Wayne’s Comics, Wayne Hall, Batman, Marvel, DC, crossover, event, Superman, Spider-Man, Captain America, General Glory, Guardians of the Galaxy, Legion of Super-Heroes, Namor, Sub-Mariner, Aquaman, Ultimate, Absolute, Daredevil, Green Arrow, Amalgam, Galactus, Darkseid, Deadpool, Flash, Quicksilver, Lex Luthor, Doctor Doom, Green Lantern, Starfox, Young Avengers, Young Justice, Peter David, JSA, Invaders, Wonder Woman, As first reported here at MajorSpoilers.com, come 2026, we’ll get to re-read the first two Superman/Spider-Man team-ups, and that will lead to even more crossovers featuring the Man of Steel and Marvel’s Web-Slinger! Are there even more in our future?

The good news is that we will be getting reprints of the previous two Supes/Spidey adventures, the initial one arriving on January 7, 2026, and the second one appearing on February 4 of the same year. I look forward to diving back into those landmark comics!

Looks like we will be getting new, hopefully updated tales in March of 2026 from DC and another from Marvel, this time in April of next year.

Back 50 years ago, Superman was a very popular guy, much more so than Batman, which is why he met up with the most popular hero from the House of Ideas at the time.

Later on, of course, Batman would get into the act, running into the Web-Slinger himself a couple or more times. Personally, since I’m a big Bat-fan, I enjoyed those stories much more than I did with Superman since the Man of Steel was in a different league, so to speak, than Spider-Man.

With all the changes in both heroes since those days, it’s going to be interesting to see just how different those stories will be.

COMICS TEND TO JUMP ON BOARD WHEN SOMETHING SELLS!

Wayne’s Comics, Wayne Hall, Batman, Marvel, DC, crossover, event, Superman, Spider-Man, Captain America, General Glory, Guardians of the Galaxy, Legion of Super-Heroes, Namor, Sub-Mariner, Aquaman, Ultimate, Absolute, Daredevil, Green Arrow, Amalgam, Galactus, Darkseid, Deadpool, Flash, Quicksilver, Lex Luthor, Doctor Doom, Green Lantern, Starfox, Young Avengers, Young Justice, Peter David, JSA, Invaders, Wonder Woman, I recently read an article, on the “always-accurate” Internet, of course, that the recent Deadpool and Batman team-up has really, REALLY sold well, estimated in the 500,000 copies range! That’s a VERY good neighborhood for the industry these days.

I do have to wonder just how the upcoming Batman and Deadpool team-up from DC will do. Will that book sell more copies than the Marvel version? Or will it sell less since it’s possible the luster will have worn off since then? Only time will tell!

Since it has apparently been a big success, I’m hopeful that the industry will do more of these kinds of crossovers, knowing that we tend to beat a certain way of doing things until they completely run out of steam.

I do have to say that I enjoyed seeing Daredevil meet Green Arrow, something I hadn’t experienced before, as well as the other unusual pairings, including Wolverine and Batman by Frank Miller. Wonder Woman and Captain America was another intriguing meeting since we hadn’t enjoyed such a crossover previously.

It sure didn’t take long for these books to begin being worked on! I imagine that when the preliminary numbers started coming in, both DC and Marvel wanted a share of that pie!

Remember, until very recently, this was considered impossible! Both publishers seemed happy to do things on their own, but now that the crack in the ice has happened, the thaw may continue for some time, especially since it is very likely that fans are clamoring for much more!

    I STILL HAVE SOME IDEAS!

Wayne’s Comics, Wayne Hall, Batman, Marvel, DC, crossover, event, Superman, Spider-Man, Captain America, General Glory, Guardians of the Galaxy, Legion of Super-Heroes, Namor, Sub-Mariner, Aquaman, Ultimate, Absolute, Daredevil, Green Arrow, Amalgam, Galactus, Darkseid, Deadpool, Flash, Quicksilver, Lex Luthor, Doctor Doom, Green Lantern, Starfox, Young Avengers, Young Justice, Peter David, JSA, Invaders, Wonder Woman, In a previous column, I mentioned that a JSA/Invaders teaming would work for me. My imagination continues to sparkle with ideas, such as Captain America meeting General Glory or Namor and Aquaman (that one really has possibilities).

There has previously been a Young Avengers group around, and maybe they could bump into Young Justice? It might be a nice homage to Peter David since he did a lot of work with that younger team in DC.

I would enjoy seeing Green Lantern come across Starfox. I think Hal has already met Silver Surfer once, so something different would be a pleasure to read.

Someone online suggested that Batman Beyond could meet Spider-Man 2099. Since they were both animated heroes not that long ago, I would find that an interesting pairing! Or maybe Flash and Quicksilver could race against each other!

I don’t think this should be limited to heroes, either! Maybe villains could discover each other, like Lex Luthor coming across Doctor Doom. That could be a challenge to a good writer!

Maybe Galactus and Darkseid? We already had Dark Phoenix work with Darkseid in that classic X-Men/Teen Titans meeting. (Hey, we could have the current versions of those two teams work together. That would be very different if they came across each other now!)

In fact, Deadpool could try to kill the DC Universe for a change! He’s killed the MCU several times already!

    HOW LONG WILL THIS LAST?

Wayne’s Comics, Wayne Hall, Batman, Marvel, DC, crossover, event, Superman, Spider-Man, Captain America, General Glory, Guardians of the Galaxy, Legion of Super-Heroes, Namor, Sub-Mariner, Aquaman, Ultimate, Absolute, Daredevil, Green Arrow, Amalgam, Galactus, Darkseid, Deadpool, Flash, Quicksilver, Lex Luthor, Doctor Doom, Green Lantern, Starfox, Young Avengers, Young Justice, Peter David, JSA, Invaders, Wonder Woman, Every fad lasts only so long, so maybe we should go slow on the gas pedal here. Too much of a good thing would get old pretty quickly.

I wouldn’t mind the Amalgam Universe coming back to the comics stands again. I do think they leaned much more heavily into the House of Ideas than DC, but I would like to see them again!

It could also work to have the Marvel Ultimate Universe crossover with the DC Absolute heroes. That would be different!

Maybe the way to approach this would be to have larger-sized annuals with lots of short stories in them. That way, the income would be healthy, I think, and we could get the team-ups out of our systems in a more concentrated burst rather than, say, a monthly crossover which would run out of steam sooner.

Still, I’m seeing a LOT of fans who are much more excited about all this in the industry than they have been for quite some time. And that’s something the comics industry could stand more of these days!

What do you think? Are there team-ups you would like to see that I haven’t mentioned? Maybe Guardians of the Galaxy meeting the Legion of Super-Heroes? And creators… today’s best would be fun to see take a shot at these heroes! What else could be helpful to the industry today? Whatever your opinion, be sure to share it in the space below!
