Watchmen Part I & II Animated Trailer is Here
Yesterday Warner Bros dropped their latest addition to The Watchmen adaptation canon following 2009 live action The Watchmen movie and the 2019 HBO series of the same title:
Watchmen Chapters 1 & 2 | 4K Teaser Trailer | Warner Bros. Entertainment

This is where I’m resisting the urge to remark that Warner Bros ought to have waited until 2029 in keeping with The Watchmen pattern, but we are entirely too mature for that here, Spoilerites!
At first blush the trailer does not share any of the same visual language viewers have come to expect from the DC Animated Universe Movies from the past decade. What is does look like is an awful lot like a rotoscoped version of Zack Snyder’s 2009 The Watchmen movie – at least at first blush. At second blush the more overt computer-generated aspects of the animation evokes early Unreal Engine projects AND (perhaps more importantly when examining possible inspirations), an awful lot like Disney+ and Marvel Studios’ two seasons of What If …?
Aside from the familiar cast of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons characters (Night Owl, Rorschach, and The Comedian are ALL OVER this teaser trailer), there is very little additional information offered. “Coming Soon” is the closing text the trailer ends on and Watchmen Part 1 & 2 are not currently listed on IMDB.
Several outlets have reported Star Wars actor Adam Driver is involved.
If I were to guess as to why this is the case?
Well, Spoilerites, we’re about 5 weeks away from San Diego Comic-Con. In recent years Disney and Marvel have drastically revoked their presence at San Diego (preferring to save announcements, screenings, and offerings for the company-owned D23 Expo which we’ll see this year in August), and Warner Bros has upped their SDCC content in response. Particularly in the realm of DC Comics and DC Films. I wouldn’t be surprised if we get announcements and early screenings next month.
Keep your eyes on Did You Hear? for more The Watchmen Part I & II as they come.
House of the Dragon Renewed for Season 3
Officially.
Because fantasy geeks who spend too much time on social media, not unlike myself, spotted A Song of Ice and Fire creator George R.R. Martin spoiling this very news last December on his official website:
It was not all tromping through sets, though. I also spent two days locked in a room with Ryan Condal and his writing staff (Sara Hess, Ti Mikkel, David Hancock, and Philippa Goslett) talking about the third and fourth seasons of HOUSE OF THE DRAGON. They were lively, fun discussions, and we got some good work done… though two days was not nearly enough. There is so much ground to cover that I am not sure twenty days would have been enough.
… wrote Martin of his December trip across the pond to London, England where House of the Dragon began shooting three years ago.
Variety, who officially broke the news yesterday wrote:
George, Ryan, and the rest of our incredible executive producers, cast, and crew, have reached new heights with the phenomenal second season,” said HBO’s programming and drama series chief Francesca Orsi in a statement. “We are in awe of the dragon-sized effort the entire team has put into the creation of a spectacular season two, with a scope and scale that is only rivaled by its heart. We could not be more thrilled to continue the story of House Targaryen and watch this team burn bright again for season three.
Reduced episode order or not, House of the Dragon won the streaming fantasy wars during its 2022 debut and returns to slay a second season on Max this Sunday, June 16th.
Power Rangers Dead at Netflix
On Tuesday this week TVLine broke sad news for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers fans the world over – there is no new content in development with streaming giant Netflix anymore.
Sources confirm for TVLine that the live-action series — which counted Daisy & the Six co-exec producer/veteran Supernatural story editor Jenny Klein as its showrunner, working in collaboration with Power Rangers franchise overlord Jonathan Entwistle — is no longer moving forward at Netflix.
While fans can still stream multiple series of the franchise on Netflix.
