Max Drops a Black Trailer and Green Trailer for House of the Dragon Season 2
All week long Max have been dropping hints pointing toward the release date of the second season of House of the Dragon. Earlier this week all we know was “June 2024” and as I sit here writing today we have an official release date: June 16th on Max! The news was chased with these incredible promotional images for the new season posted to the Official Instagram account:

Book readers and George R.R. Martin fans who’ve read Fire and Blood (the volume of Targaryen history upon which House of the Dragon is based), will know the Black Faction is the group of Targaryen family and supporters who are behind Rhaenyra and Daemon Targaryen, while the Green Faction is the group of Targaryen family and supports who are behind Allicent, Aegon II, and Aemond Targaryen. So, yesterday when Max dropped the Official Green Trailer:

… it was clear the beginning of the end of House Targaryen’s rule in Westeros is about to be television in a real way!
Amidst all the excitement I’d like to remind Spoilerites this new season of House of the Dragon was shot last year and completed during the WGA Strike. This means Max and producing partners, executives, et cetera did not have writers present on set (unless they were scabbing and if they were that is in violation of Guild Strike Rules), and chose to prioritize their shooting schedule deadlines over the relative quality of the show as a whole. It remains to be seen whether or not this will affect the second season in any way, shape, or form, but if House of the Dragon no longer feels like House of the Dragon there may be a glaring reason why.
If you are wondering how House of the Dragon was able to shoot with SAG-AFTRA actors amidst a SAG-AFTRA strike on a SAG-AFTRA production, they shoot predominantly in the United Kingdom and Europe which works under Actors Equity. If all the actors were switched to Actors Equity contracts and working under those auspices they technically were not in violation of SAG-AFTRA Guild Strike Rules.
Star Wars Reveals First Look at The Acolyte + Trailer
The day before House of the Dragon was the thing on everyone’s lips we were whisked away to a Galaxy Far, Far Away with the release of the first trailer for The Acolyte. If I’m being very honest with you I forgot this was a series being made and thought it was the Skeleton Crew at first blush:
The Acolyte | Official Trailer | Disney+
In an age of light, a darkness rises. On June 4, don’t miss the two-episode premiere of #TheAcolyte, a Star Wars Original series, only on Disney+.
Not only did the trailer drop before House of the Dragon, but Disney+ will be beating Max in the streaming wars as well, releasing The Acolyte on June 4th, 2024. The series is unique in being the first major cinematic offering from Disney or Star Wars set in The High Republic period – an era of the lore fans have been clambouring to see brought to life on screen for decades now.
The Acolyte stars: Amandla Sterberg (The Hunger Games), Dafne Keen (Logan), Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix), and more.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Surprises Fans with … a Trailer!
Lastly, but not leastly, Warner Bros (which owns Max), was not to be outdone in this week of geeky trailers. Taking a note from Netflix’s Wednesday playbook on Thursday we saw the first trailer for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice:
BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE | Official Teaser Trailer
The juice is loose! #Beetlejuice #Beetlejuice – Only in theaters September 6. Beetlejuice is back! Oscar-nominated, singular creative visionary Tim Burton and Oscar nominee and star Michael Keaton reunite for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the long-awaited sequel to Burton’s award-winning Beetlejuice.
Yes, in addition to the returning cast of Michael Keaton’s eponymous Beetlejuice and Winona Ryder’s Lydia Deetz that is, indeed, Jenna Ortega as Astrid Deetz.
Additional behind-the-scenes material was published earlier this week on EW.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will not be fighting House of the Dragon and The Acolyte for June supremacy. Instead the movie is eyeing a September 6th, 2024 American release date.
