Derek Kirk Kim is returning to the world of comics with The Last Mermaid, an ongoing sci-fi series hitting stands in March 2024 from Image Comics.
In The Last Mermaid, a lone mermaid roams an endless wasteland on a quest beyond reason. To press ever onward, she must survive the interminable stretches between tiny pockets of water, roaming bands of cybernetic cannibals, and fearsome mutant beasts. What propels her forward to take such a risk?
“I’m so excited to be back making comics after a decade of experience in TV and animation,” said Kim in a press release from Image Comics. “The Last Mermaid is a culmination of everything I’ve learned and love in storytelling, and I couldn’t be prouder to present it through Image Comics. Returning to comics feels like coming home and I hope everyone will join the titular mermaid on her epic quest to find her own home in The Last Mermaid.”
The Last Mermaid #1 arrives on March 6, 2024.
