Previously in Savage Squad 6: The year is 2037, and humanity is reeling from a devastating world war. The remnants of civilization are relentlessly hunted down and wiped out by a deadly force called The Scourge. In this bleak landscape, the central colonies cling to a glimmer of hope embodied by an elite team known as Savage Squad 6.
In Savage Squad 6 #1, we are introduced to a world teeming with danger. A group of soldiers is brutally attacked by an enigmatic entity, underscoring the hazardous nature of their reality. The primary storyline revolves around Savage Squad 6 #1 as they embark on a mission alongside their new medic recruit, Nat. Nat provides the squad with anti-radiation medication as they venture into the treacherous aftermath of the Chernobyl reactor meltdown. Empowered by the medicine, led by Cap, the team searches for a potential weapon to combat The Scourge.
Each squad member’s unique skill set is showcased as they navigate the perilous terrain. Mags excels in technology and scouting, Shells is a formidable long-range sniper, Rosie has an affinity for explosives, and Hauser possesses an indomitable toughness. While camping for the night, tensions arise between Hauser and Nat. Nat’s hesitation is misconstrued by Hauser, who interprets it as a judgment of their carefree attitude and deep-seated hatred towards The Scourge, leading to a heated exchange. Suddenly, the camp is assaulted by a bear, and as they retaliate, Hauser unleashes a fierce blow with a large knife and learns that something even larger may lurk in the shadows.
When I agreed to review this comic, I didn’t expect to be captivated by Savage Squad 6 #1. It’s not my usual choice, but the book intrigued me. The introduction of the setting and characters is masterfully executed, providing a clear understanding of the world they inhabit. While the characters may seem somewhat surface-level at this point, there is potential for profound development throughout the series. However, the book currently lacks a compelling plot direction. We know that Savage Squad 6 is on the hunt for a weapon, but the significance and purpose of their mission are not fully established. Despite this, I am invested in the characters and eager to witness their engaging interactions and feats, caring less about the overall plot for now.
The art in Savage Squad 6 #1 is commendable, featuring striking character designs. While some backgrounds may appear simplistic, the intricate details given to the characters, particularly the attention-grabbing bear at the comic’s conclusion, deserve praise.
Savage Squad #6 presents a promising beginning for a series that leaves me yearning for more. It’s a delightful surprise when a book I wouldn’t typically choose manages to pique my interest in this manner. I rate Savage Squad 6 #1 with 4.5 out of 5 stars, and I eagerly anticipate the next issue’s release.

Savage Squad 6 #1 starts with dynamic characters, making it an excellent start. However, the overarching plot hasn't grabbed my attention just yet.
