Red Zone, an action-packed spy thriller set in Russia, is headed our way in March 2023 from AWA Studios.
Red Zone is written by Cullen Bunn, with art by Mike Deodato Jr. and is set to run for four issues.
This four-issue miniseries transports readers to Moscow alongside Randall Crane, an unassuming American professor of Russian and Slavic Studies at New York University. Crane is called in by the United States government for a secret international mission back to Russia, where he finds himself in hot water after his long-buried secrets come to light. When his support team of commandos is ambushed and killed, it is up to Randall to fight his way out of Russia using his “particular set of skills” that were honed during the Cold War era.
You might have been surprised that Bunn is the writer on the series, as horror is more up his alley.
“RED ZONE is a departure from my usual storytelling and I’m thrilled that Axel and the team at AWA gave me the opportunity to explore my fascination with Russian espionage in this series. It’s a story of intrigue, action, recapturing the things you are passionate about, and doing more than you thought you could, with incredibly dynamic illustrations from Mike Deodato,” said series writer Cullen Bunn in a press release from AWA Studios. “RED ZONE was a lot of fun to write, with twists and surprises in every issue, and we hope fans are going to love it as much as we do.”
Red Zone #1 arrives on March 01, 2023.
