HATRED AND FORGIVENESS
Iron Cat #5 starts with Madame Menace attacking Tony Stark and Black Cat with an A.I.-controlled Iron Man suit. Luckily, Iron Cat isn’t dead. She comes in to save the day and delivers a file for Tony to upload. As Tony works his computer magic, the Hulkbuster suit arrives. After Tamara forgives Felicia, Black Cat suits up, and they try and distract Madame Menace but nearly get overpowered. Luckily, Tony uploads another version of Madame Menace to attack while he resets his systems. With the fight over, Iron Cat runs away with the suit while Tony and Felicia lick their wounds,
STANDARD FINISH
Iron Cat #5 was a simple conclusion to the story. The comic did not try to do anything dramatic; they simply resolved the relationship between Felicia and Tamara and defeated the bad guy. For me, this was disappointing. We could have explored the relationship between the three main characters more closely. Instead, we took a safer route for the story and perhaps foreshadowed the return of Iron Cat in future issues. Don’t get me wrong, this is a well-written conclusion to this story. It was just a little safe. Even the art style didn’t seem to try anything out of the ordinary. Still, the creative team did an excellent job with their decisions.
BOTTOM LINE: NOT A BAD FINISH
As an entire miniseries, Iron Cat combines superheroics with the caper/thief feel very well. Iron Cat #5 safely wrapped up those story points but felt a little underwhelming as a single issue. With that in mind, this comic gets 3.5 out of 5 stars. Looking forward to seeing Iron Cat in future series.
