DC Comics and talent agency HYBE are working with Korean-based Webtoon for new web-based content.
Announced on Wednesday, the agreement is set up to create original web comics and web novels.
Webtoons CEO Kim Jun Koo described the relationships between the companies as “synergistic” as they provide a combination of deep pools of intellectual property with the economies of scale that come from Webtoon’s leadership position in creative tools and animation distribution.
According to the report at Variety, Webtoon has 166 million monthly average users, and six million creators working on the platform that is similar to YouTube.
