When it comes to superhero sound effects, there are several that even the most casual fan knows: Spider-Man goes “THWIP!”, Superman goes “WHOOOSH!”, Batman goes “I DO NOT SMELL.” The X-Men, though, have managed to snag not one but TWO iconic onomatopoeias, meaning that everybody knows if they hear Snikt or BAMF that they’re dealing with Wolverine and Nightcrawler. Of course, that does raise the question of which is better, leading to today’s SFX query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) wishes that they still did Cyclops’ eyebeam sound effect, which was “ZARK!”, asking: Snikt or BAMF?

If you asked me when I was 12, snikt. As time has passed, I’ve come to appreciate bamf a lot more.
Bamf. Oh, the places you’ll go.
I’d much rather hear “BAMF” than “Snikt” because the latter means someone’s gettin’ cut.
Oh, and don’t forget that GI Joe 21 taught us that Snake Eyes goes Silent But Deadly.
BAMF is more fun.
