It’s been ten years since the New 52 revamp… I can’t believe it either, you guys. Among the changes wreaked on the DC Universe by Barry Allen’s selfish decision to futz with the timestream was the formation of a Justice League without The Martian Manhunter. In his stead was Victor Stone, the former Teen Titan known as Cyborg. On the one hand, Vic is absolutely a big league player, but part of me always missed J’onn. Though the New 52 League went through a lot of changes since 2011, my inner fan-child still has a bit of cognitive dissonance over the changes to the back story and history (especially since it seems to be based on the fact that Martian Manhunter was never in the Super-Friends) which leads us to today’s not-at-all-interchangeable query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) is really torn on this one, as an aficionado of both characters since at least the 1984, asking: Is your preferred continuity one with Martian Manhunter as founding Justice Leaguer, or one with Cyborg?

I always thought more of Cyborg as a member of the Teen Titans than the JL, so i guess I’d rather see ol’ J’onn J’onzz be on the roster. MM also fits in a little more with that silver-age “rocketships and ray guns” sci-fi milieu, rather than the 70s/80s emergence of cyberpunk aesthetic.
I really, really, do not understand why one has to go for the other to be there. I prefer a continuity that allows for them both to be founding members of the same Justice League team.
Ahhh Geeez . Cyborg as a founding member of the Justice League? What next Scott Free dead…..Batman Kills? Robin as a little snot faced …. (the words to describe that unlikable Abomination that is Robin right now seem to elude me at the present) Does this mean that since Cyborg founded the League with the rest of the older characters he too is of the older generation now…. which makes all of the Teen Titans much younger than him? how does that work? So NightWing is a teenager again?
The whole concept of 52, and whatever came after that, resetting the D(ark)C(omics) “continuity” is just …. mind boggling. They should have stopped with the original Crisis, and just left well enough alone.
TLDR: Martian ManHunter as a Founding Member.
I like both, but J’onn in JL and Vic as leader of TT make the most sense in my head.
