    Major Spoilers Question of the Day: Superman or Thor Edition

    One has a mystical hammer, the other has the power of the  yellow sun.  One hails from a city of gods, the other from a humble farm in Kansas.  But what they share, other than spiffy red capes, is the desire to protect the innocent and punch the wicked, as well as the responsibility to use their power for the greater good.  Heck, at one point, they even had the same hairstyle, and while I can see how they might get into a fight (*cough*Thor*cough*), I can also see how it wouldn’t last very long, leading to today’s mightiest query…

    The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) isn’t even asking who’d win in a fight, but instead, who you prefer, asking: Superman or Thor?

    Once upon a time, there was a young nerd from the Midwest, who loved Matter-Eater Lad and the McKenzie Brothers... If pop culture were a maze, Matthew would be the Minotaur at its center. Were it a mall, he'd be the Food Court. Were it a parking lot, he’d be the distant Cart Corral where the weird kids gather to smoke, but that’s not important right now... Matthew enjoys body surfing (so long as the bodies are fresh), writing in the third person, and dark-eyed women. Amongst his weaponry are such diverse elements as: Fear! Surprise! Ruthless efficiency! An almost fanatical devotion to pop culture! And a nice red uniform.

      I think MCU Thor might have the advantage. He has more experience dealing with powerful adversaries that Reeve Superman hasn’t had.
      Although, Superman can turn back the clock to fix it to they meet over a beer rather than fight.

      I’m not deep in the tank for either one, but these days I’m much more likely to plunk down money & time for a Thor movie or comic than for a Superman movie or comic.

      Having said that, though, the “Superman & Lois” pilot was much better than I expected, despite the ridiculous padding of Superman’s suit, so maybe there’s hope.

        I guess if we’re taking the magic vulnerability into account, Thor would probably mop the floor with Clark. Thor vs. Wonder Woman would be a damn good fight though.

      In this case I was thinking which costume I’d wear. Gotta go with Thor, I’m not in spandex shape at the moment, if I ever was.

      HMMM Simon and Schuster Vs Lee and Kirby…..
      Both . Why not Both?… not allowed … oh OK.
      Never been A huge fan of either.
      So lets break it down. For design: Kirby wins…. don’t think it is possible for him to lose. For characterization: Superman would win, he is the quintessential superhero that all the others are destined to follow. Where as Thor is essentially just another god put onto paper. Not very original. Corporate usage is what would make the difference here. Marvel has handled the character both on paper and on screen much better than DC Has handled Superman.
      Who would I prefer to hang out with? I think Thor would be more fun……
      So Thor wins….. but he still wouldn’t win in a fight between them.
