As the noted wise man Peter Paul Mounds noted, we all have different moods. Sometimes you need a Mounds, other times a crème brûlée. The same is true of our favorite pop culture, especially when it comes to movies. Sometimes you want to sit and watch the grandeur of ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ and sometimes you want to see The Mighty Ducks pull off the Flying V. If I’m feeling really froogy, I might even watch Micah systematically get himself killed by the thing in the attic, though there’s always ‘Annie Hall’, leading to today’s dichotomous query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) mighty just split the difference and watch ‘Clerks’, asking: If you had to pick one of the two right now, would you watch Roadhouse or Citizen Kane?

I think that I’m more often in the mood for a “Roadhouse” than a :Citizen Kane.” As I’ve not yet seen either one, I do know that I’m far more likely to watch someone else’s 80’s touchstone of dumb violence than someone else’s concept of peak cinema. Plus, that whole ‘Rosebud’ thing has been spoiled six ways to Sunday.
Right now, Roadhouse. Usually, Citizen Kane.
i’ll echo the comments above, i’d much rather watch a Road House right now, something entertainingly bad and escapist, than “eat my vegetables” and watch something “important,” cinematically speaking.
like i’ve had Moonlight queued up in my Netflix for months, and i will eventually watch it, i know it’s important, but man….it’s just so much easier on the brain and emotions to rewatch a couple episodes of Avatar or TNG right now. i feel bad about it, but it’s true.
