The evil geniuses at Rockstar Games finally got me to pull the trigger on ‘Grant Theft Auto Online’ last night, as I realizes that a recent expansion pack introduced the Scramjet, a very obvious clone of Speed Racer’s Mach 5. Of course, to get my jet-shaped flying car, I’m gonna have to actually play the game and earn like FOUR MILLION bucks, which seems like a lot given that my introduction to the game was being nuked from the sky by an experienced player on a flying motorcycle (y”know, for funsies), leading to today’s aerial-combat query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) notes that the game also has The Batmobile, KITT and Doc Brown’s flying DeLorean, asking: What flying car (hopping or turbo-boosting counts for our purposes) reigns supreme in your heart?

I have to rule out KITT, because it doesn’t quite qualify in my mind. So, its Tracks. A flying Corvette/Autobot.
When I think of cars jumping/flying through the air, my first thought always goes to a certain orange Dodge Charger with a signature clarion call sounding forth from the horn: the General Lee from Dukes of Hazzard.
Shame about the roof, though…
I’m not sure that the roof is any more problematic than the name of the car or the song that the horn plays. Since the me-that-was had less than zero knowledge or understanding of those issues, my heart’s memory still holds fondness for the Duke boys’ adventures.
Lola from Agents of Shield. A flying red convertible oozes style.
Too bad the writers pretty much forgot about her for most of the series.
I get the feeling the green-screen was pretty spendy and that show’s budget kept shrinking and shrinking.
Yea, they kept on running up and down the same corridors when they were in space. ABC seemed to only give them pocket change for their budget.
I can get behind Lola as my pick as well.
I’ve loved the flying DeLorean ever since I was a kid.
