When I was a younger man, I worked in radio (I recommend it, if you don’t mind getting yelled at by strangers and the fact that there’s no money in it) and was always a bit puzzled by the definitions of a specific musical genre. Unlike Otter Disaster, who to this day will tell you the difference between Black Metal, Thrash Metal and Paraguayan Elbow-Harp Metal, I just found songs and artists that appealed to me and let other folks figure it out. These days, most of my local stations have adopted mixed formats or the motley Jack format where they just play whatever they can afford that week anyway, making it even more difficult for me to figure out whether I like Country, Pop or Mulch, leading us to today’s AOR query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) knows only two kinds of music; the songs I like and that other stuff, asking: If you had to choose to listen to a single musical genre FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, which one would it be?

It would have to be late 80’s early 90’s alternative.
Without hesitation, it’d be folk. And not just because, like Satchmo, I ain’t never heard no horse sing a song.
Movie Scores with out a doubt. Listening to Michael Giacchino , John Williams and Howard Shore wouldn’t be a burden.
