Ben Affleck as our live action Batman has come and gone, and Robert Pattinson has been fitted for his new Bat-Suit, beginning the Dark Knight Cycle anew. It’s actually nice to have someone younger than 45 under the cowl, if only so that the DCEU can stop leaning so hard on ‘The Dark Knight Returns.’ The biggest problem with casting a a live action Batman is always the fact that there are so many well-known and incompatible takes on the characters. Some people only see Batman as a wry, avuncular figure in a silken mask while others won’t stand for a lack of grimdark throat-clearing. With so many alternate Bat-tales out to choose from, the film history of the Caped Crusader is almost like choosing your favorite Beatle: It says as much about you as it does about the band, leading to today’s cowled query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) always expects that people will try to write-in Kevin Conroy for any Batman question, and now you actually can, thanks to Berlanti Productions, asking: Which Dark Knight is the best Live Action Batman and why is it Val Kilmer?

Adam West. He is and will be always remembered.
I’m fairly partial to David Mazouz. He literally and figuratively grew into that role.
I think mine might be Keaton, though the list time I watched Batman or Batman Returns was in the late 90’s.
I’ll also make the obligatory Conroy insert, because that guy just IS Batman.
Actually, weirdly, I somehow forgot about Affleck, even though he was in the intro paragraph to this question.
It might be him. his movies weren’t all that great, but he made a pretty good Bruce.
Because Val is the only one who acted up a believable Bruce Wayne. But I found Batman Returns more enjoyable.
