The news has broken that the new season of Supergirl will feature a new costume featuring pants, a concession to Vancouver temperatures that somehow seems to be making the usual suspects angry for some reason. For my part, worrying about Supergirl’s costume changing is like worrying about Ted Mosby’s relationships crumbling or being concerned that Sterling Archer isn’t taking his spy duties seriously: It’s completely missing the point. Supergirl has had more variant costumes than nearly any other high-profile hero, from speed suits to baby t’s to angelic wings and everything in between, leading to today’s Argo City query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) is a fan of hot pants/slippers/choker necklace/cleavagey blouse with the offset S-shield on the breast, a short-lived variant of her 70s hotpants costumes, asking: Which Supergirl costume is your favorite look for the Girl of Steel?

I like the early version with the full length Superman shirt and the red skirt. But really, anything other than that Michael Turner “heroin addict” look.
I’m a big fan of her classic look on the TV show. It feels like the most quintessential Supergirl costume, with all of the expected elements in the right places. That said, a change-up has been a long time coming, and the new suit looks good, so I’m looking forward to seeing her in action with it next season. I have a bit of a soft spot for her Gotham City Garage look though, too.
I like the new TV show one. 80’s headband thing from Crisis era was good too.
