Which Joker has the Best Laugh?
On new comic book day this week Warner Bros. dropped the final trailer for their upcoming Joker solo movie starring Joaquin Phoenix:
JOKER – Final Trailer – Now Playing In Theaters

If the titular “final” is to be believed this is the last look we’ll get at a standalone movie rather shrouded in mystery that came together at what felt like a breakneck speed compared to the crumbling of much of the formerly scheduled DCEU.
I find myself frequently forgetting that Joker hits cinemas on October 4th, 2019 (before, even, the movie I’m writing about in the next segment), so it makes nothing but sense that marketing should really be swinging upward. I will also note in the same paragraph that Warner Bros. pointedly waited until after the D23 Expo to ensure it was as impactful as possible.
Whether or not any of us may be feeling Joker fatigue, there’s been a lot of fan buzz in and around this trailer. Youtube commenters are hailing this as the new coming of The Killing Joke in its mastery of the character. For myself, I fear this to be a touch hyperbolic, as none of us have seen Joker yet, although I never want to take away from anyone’s excitement. Pundits and journalists from the Geek History Lesson twitter account to IGN have been asking which of our various pop culture Jokers have the best laughs?
If you have yet to way in on the Joker laugh debate, there’s always room down in the comments section of this article to make your opinion known!
Jesse Pinkman Breaks Bad in El Camino Trailer
Further to trailer news: it was huge news when Netflix announced they had purchased exclusive rights to broadcast the Breaking Bad spinoff movie, El Camino, set to center around Jesse Pinkman post-escape at the end of the original series.

While no other cast members from Breaking Bad besides Aaron Paul have been announced, series creator Vince Gilligan wrote and directed El Camino. Gilligan is considered by fans to have a lot of integrity and his involvement in this sequel film has quelled a lot of potential upheaval and dissention in the fandom.
This trailer was dropped amidst the D23 madness. It’s an incredibly bold move. Many online peanut gallery commentators suspected Disney+ would be the death knell of Netflix. The streaming giant answered in kind by releasing a trailer of their own that broke the internet and garnered substantial coverage which may otherwise have been allotted for anything else under the Disney umbrella.
Whether or not you have a horse in the race, studios definitely play games with each other, and while Warners Bros. has previously blinked in the face of Marvel Studios competition, Netflix did not blink in the face of Disney. In fact, they rolled out one of the most waited-for trailers of the past half decade.
Perhaps El Camino will finally be the debut to crash Netflix? We’ll know for sure on October 11th, 2019.
