2) THE PRIVATEER
A public defender, Mark Shaw became disillusioned by the ease with which criminals escaped justice and joined the ancient sect of Manhunters. That group was actually a front for a conspiracy by alien androids, who sent Mark after Green Lantern to discredit their former Masters, The Guardians Of The Universe. Mark turned on them, but returned as The Privateer, claiming to be seeking redemption. In truth, he was also the villainous Star-Tsar, working to enrich himself with another heroic pose. After a stint in prison, he returned as Manhunter.
Years later, he tried to kill all the other heroes who had borne that name, but that’s another story. Suffice to say, a Mark Shaw appearance is generally trouble…
