I suppose that it’s no surprise that there are fewer mother-daughter team pairings in pop culture than there are father-son teams, but it’s still something of a bummer. Still, there’s Elasti-Girl/Mrs. Incredible and her daughter Violet, whose name is perfectly suited to her powers; there’s Mary Jane “Spinneret” Watson-Parker and her offspring Annie in one of the various alternate Marvel Universes, and if you’re willing to stretch the point, Emma Frost and her five four three teen clones, the Stepford Cuckoos in the X-Men books. And, of course, there’s Samantha Stephens and her disappointed, interfering but still loving mother Endora from ‘Bewitched’, leading to today’s matriarchal query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) still thinks that Endora may be one of the great creations of Western pop culture, a mean old mother-in-law stereotype that is actually more likable than the husband we’re supposed to sympathize with, asking: Who’s the best fictional mother-daughter team in all of pop culture?

Jean and Rachel Grey. I also count in Hope, so we got a grandma too, because why not?
My favorite is a short lived duo. Ellen and Jo from Supernatural. Jo constantly wanting to hunt, Ellen fighting her on it only to end up joining her. Then, they go out together in an epic mom/daughter versus hell-hound standoff. Well written characters that were written off far too soon.
I don’t have a great father/son or mother/daughter, but I did think of a fun father/daughter team – even if it’s since been stricken from canon.
In the old Star Wars expanded universe, Han’s daughter Jaina took after him in the piloting department, and it was always a treat to see them fly together (either copiloting the Falcon, or in separate ships in a big battle when she was with Rogue Squadron).
