There are so many of you who are jumping up and down in anticipation waiting for Avengers: Infinity War to arrive in theaters. For those asking, “Can we get it earlier?” the answer is, “Yes.”
Instead of May 4th, Marvel Studios is releasing the movie on April 27, 2018.
Any chance I could see it earlier?

This is a really odd move for a number of reasons. First, there is little to no competition coming from any other studio or movie on the May 4th date. I think the reason for the move is a reaction to Black Panther. Instead of dominating one weekend, the move ensures Avengers is the only thing getting a lot of attention for at least two – and possibly three if Breaking In (horror) is not your thing. This of course means more money for Marvel Studios who brought in nearly $3 billion worldwide from the first two Avengers movies.
The second oddity, which is really minor when you consider the literal billions of dollars involved in this move, is Free Comic Book Day. For years now, Marvel has had a movie release that coincides with Free Comic Book Day. Marvel Studios may have finally figured out that movie attendance does not equate into an increase in comic book sales, even if you are giving them away. That being said, perhaps there will be a upsurge in those attending Free Comic Book Day because they aren’t standing in line waiting for the movie, and have the free time to head to the comic book shop.
Regardless, getting to see this movie early is great news for everyone at the Major Spoilers HQ. What are your reactions to this news?
