4) DOGWELDER
Another example of a character who is intentionally absurd to serve a story point, Dogwelder is part of the Section 8, a group of heroes who are all ridiculous. The point of Dogwelder and the Section 8 is to remind us that ALL superheroes are a little bit dumb, from the orphan dressed as a bat to the alien who for some reason dresses as a turn-of-the-century strongman to the princess whose creator’s BDSM proclivities are baked right into the story. The fun of Dogwelder is in merciless parody, making a greater statement about what a superhero story is and why it works, and the only downside is that most of his appearances also feature the reprehensible and disgusting Bueno Excellente.
