9) THE RUTLAND HALLOWEEN CROSSOVERS
Long before Marvel Vs. DC, even before Superman Vs. Spider-Man, the very first unofficial DC/Marvel joint was the Rutland Halloween crossover. Steve Englehart was the first to write the annual real-life festivities into comics, but in 1973, the parade was the site of the strangest story of all: Englehart writes himself, Gerry Conway and Len & Glynis Wein into a story where their car is nearly stolen by The Juggernaut, followed by Wein continuing their adventure in an issue of Justice League of America, wrapping up with a Conway-penned issue of Thor. With so many of the creators as real-life friends, this type of crossover was relatively common during the 70s and early 80s.
