I know I’m late to the party on this one, but thanks to Toonami reruns that we blundered across by accident, my daughter and I are now officially hooked on ‘Samurai Jack.’ On the one hand, I should have known long before this, what with Rodrigo singing the show’s praises as long as I’ve known him. On the other, we have the advantage of not having to deal with a cancellation and long hiatus, proving that there might be an upside to being oblivious, leading to today’s fashionably tardy query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) wonders whether or not I should give the same courtesy to ‘Arrow,’ given how much I like the rest of the creative team’s output, asking: What bits of pop culture have made you okay with being late to the party?

Doctor Who and Star Trek franchises on technicalities, as I wasn’t born until 1979, long after both series began their runs and had begun branching out into other media from their initial series. A great deal of my youth was spent with my brother watching the shows and movies, reading the comics and magazines and partaking of other related material.
But for more recent series, Arrow is one. Granted, I watched the first episode or two as they aired, but found it a little lackluster and only gave it a second chance when The Flash was about to premier. Getting the first two seasons in a few days made me appreciate the series more than I had when I first gave it a shot.
Chuck is another, as I only got into the show about the time the final season was starting thanks to mini-marathons on cable. It wasn’t that I was unaware or uninterested in the show, I just hadn’t gotten around to it due to the show airing when I was busy and I didn’t have Tivo or DVR or anything other than a single VCR that was already recording another show. I’m pretty happy I missed out on those summer waits between the seasons considering most of the seasons ended on a cliffhanger.
Pretty much anything but ones people are the most worried about are TV shows. I always binge watch them, sometimes years after they aired and it doesn’t bother me at all.
Venture Brothers, I know they’re not done with the series but given how long its been taking them to pump out seasons I don’t think I could have kept up with it. I’m super glad though that I was able to binge the show and get caught up in a couple days.
Game of Thrones. Between Martin dragging his feet on the books and the tv show being on subscription cable, I’m fine just waiting for the show to end so I can see what the fuss is about.
