Major Spoilers Question of the Day: Dog Person Or Cat Person Edition

Matthew PetersonBy Matthew PetersonJanuary 23, 20172 Comments1 Min Read

When it comes to pets, some of us love Krypto, some of us love Streaky.  (It should be noted that Rodrigo hates both of them, with good in-character reasons.)  Still others love Beppo The Super-Monkey, but those are the kind of people who want a Shamrock shake year-round and thus cannot be trusted.  Still, if our sitcoms are to be believed, all of humanity falls into one category or the other, leading to today’s pet query…

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) has never really been any kind of pet person, and yet there’s a bicolor mop that skulks around my house at all hours, biting things and knocking over lamps, asking: Are you a Dog Person Or A Cat Person?

Once upon a time, there was a young nerd from the Midwest, who loved Matter-Eater Lad and the McKenzie Brothers... If pop culture were a maze, Matthew would be the Minotaur at its center. Were it a mall, he'd be the Food Court. Were it a parking lot, he’d be the distant Cart Corral where the weird kids gather to smoke, but that’s not important right now... Matthew enjoys body surfing (so long as the bodies are fresh), writing in the third person, and dark-eyed women. Amongst his weaponry are such diverse elements as: Fear! Surprise! Ruthless efficiency! An almost fanatical devotion to pop culture! And a nice red uniform.

I like animals, but never had a pet. I would be wrecked if I lost as much as a goldfish. Maybe little bit more leaning towards dogs.

I like both equally. I’ve had both as pets in the past, and I can’t say I love one more than the other. And the opposite seems to be true, as both cats and dogs that normally don’t like other people from their owners seem quite friendly toward me (used to be the guy people came to ask to help get their pet if it ran off since they always came to me).

But if I absolutely must choose, I’ll side with dogs solely because I have a deep love of wolf hybrids. Used to have a wolf/malamute mix that was the sweetest thing ever (unless you made an aggressive move at someone she liked, then watch out).
