Marvel Entertainment has announced it has promoted Dan Buckley to the position of president and expanded his responsibilities.
Previously, Buckley served as President of TV, Publishing, and Brand. In his new role, Buckley is also responsible for games, global brand management, and the franchise group. Essentially, Buckley runs all aspects of Marvel, except for Marvel Studios, which is under the control of Kevin Feige.
Many may remember the blowup Feige had with Marvel Entertainment CEO, Isaac “Ike” Perlmutter last year, which resulted in Feige reporting directly to Disney’s Alan Horn. While it hasn’t been officially announced, Perlmutter may be taking a position with the Trump administration, which may be part of the reason for Buckley’s promotion, even though Buckley will still report directly to Perlmutter.
Buckley first started with Marvel’s international licensing division before becoming VP for Marketing Services, eventually leading to his current position.
“Under Buckley’s leadership, Marvel Comics has remained at the forefront of innovation remains the industry leader in graphic fiction,” said Marvel in a press release.
