Last night, Supergirl flew to the CW and brought her cousin Kal-El along for the ride. Some say this episode was the best Supergirl episode ever, while others were pretty “meh” on the episode.

I really enjoyed the inclusion of Superman more than I thought I would, and certainly like Tyler a lot more in this role, than I did in Everybody Wants Some. Overall a great start to the season.
I was a little skeptical about the choice of Superman because I primarily know the actor as Martin from “7th Heaven” (my mom and my ex both used to make me watch) and I didn’t really think he was much of an actor there (he had an awkward “forced reading of a script” feel to him). But I think he did a pretty good job as Superman, and a phenomenally good job as Clark.
As for the episode itself, it was so-so, neither something spectacular nor something spectacularly awful. It had good moments and bad, but it was still enjoyable enough that I’ve watched it again on On Demand. But I hope the coming episodes have a little more to get me excited rather than just being merely acceptable.
I enjoyed the episode. Their take on Superman was a breath of fresh air and I loved the little bits like winking at the kid he just saved before flying off. It’s nice that he’s got a pre-existing conflict with the DEO and J’onzz in particular, so everyone’s not excited he’s around.
The Luthor plot was satisfactory, and I’m looking forward to where they take it. I’m sure everyone’s expecting her to turn bad, but what if, for once, they don’t go that route? They will turn her of course, but it’d be a nice season-long subplot they can stretch out if they choose to.
“Miss Teschmacher!!!”
I laughed when I heard Cat Grant do her best Gene Hackman Luthor
I loved it! Superman was great! The thing that sealed it for me was his first line in the cape was, “Need a hand?” And it wasn’t just the line, (credit that to the writers) but it was his delivery. He plays it well. The only let down for me was that his heat vision was blue like Kara’s. It makes sense, but I thought it would be a nice if she is supposed to be faster and stronger to have his powers be a little different. Melissa is going to be outstanding this season. Her facial expressions are incredible. Especially when she’s working through something. I’m really excited for this season.
Also, the family that’s moving back to Gotham got a good chuckle out of me.
