3) EARTH-3 LUTHOR HATES THE GRIMDARK DCU
During the Infinite Crisis, Lex Luthor of pre-Crisis Earth-3 returned, along with Earth-1 Superman and Earth-Prime Superboy, to find the once bright and hopeful DC Universe a dark and brutal place. Where heroes like Superman once stood for a greater good, there were only angry vigilantes, ready to kill and maim at a moments notice. As a meta-commentary on 1990s grimdark comics, it was a very relatable complaint, and one that more than a few fans shared with him. Things went south quickly, as these matters always seem to, but at the beginning, Luthor’s complaints seemed entirely justified and correct.
