Ever since the news broke of a musical crossover episode of the CW DCU shows, I’ve been both excited and afraid they’ll use The Music Meister. Sure, he was a WONDERFUL villain in his episode of ‘Batman: The Brave And The Bold’ and anything that involves Neil Patrick Harris is aces by me. But what if they recast? What if they grit him up? What if Barry Allen’s legendary villain body count claims him in his big comebsck? Is it worth more Meister material if said material isn’t as good? A well-worn comic book adage says “Be careful what you wish for”, leading us to today’s partly pessimistic query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted” wonders if it’s better to be obscure or disappointing, asking: What character or property do you WANT more of but worry that a big comeback might ruin the character’s appeal?

I’d like to see more of Lone Wolf & Cub, in either comic or film but since original creators are no longer going to do it, I doubt it would feel the same or be handled as well. “New” and “Scifi” versions are my proof. It would also have to be prequel, but I’m alright with that.
Fraction’s Hawkeye, Superior Foes of Spider-Man, Zot and Nextwave (my 4 favourite comics). Would love to have more but worry they wouldn’t be as good and to be honest they all end perfectly.
In general, past Tokusatsu heroes. They do appear here and there across most of the franchises, with Super Sentai having “Legends” either returning to assist the newer teams in some way (like in Gokaiger and Ninninger) or the “10 Years After” movies of late where we get a one-time special movie checking in on past teams, and then there are the small cameos in the movies and series with a character showing up for a scene or two. Kamen Rider often has team-up movies involving past Riders, occasionally having a past Rider referenced or appearing within the series itself. Ultraman usually has team-ups in the movies for each season that includes most if not all past Ultras, even going so far as to include lesser known Ultras (even the American animated Ultras have appeared in a recent live-action movie).
But I’m not sure if or how they could reasonably bring back a past hero or team in a prominent role rather than a cameo or special. A mentor role might work (similar to the Space Sheriff Gavan movie introducing a new character with the armor while still keeping the original), and could be an interesting concept tying the past and present together, but that doesn’t really bring back the past hero or team to action in most cases. Bringing their powers back (Ranger Keys, Spark Dolls, Rider Cards, etc.) doesn’t really bring back the character, just their costume or a power-up based on them.
And there would have to be a VERY fitting reason for them to come back, too.
Thought about it some more, and decided to add “Highlander” to the list. As much as I would love to see more GOOD Highlander stories, the franchise doesn’t have the best track record with sequels and spin-offs. The first movie, the TV series and the anime movie were all fairly enjoyable, but the other movies, the animated series and the second TV series were either forgettable or REALLY terrible.
I would love to see Gatchaman/G-Force/Battle of the Planets redone.
I first saw Battle of the Planets and loved it. Then I saw G-Force and hated it. This was mostly due to the names they gave (Ace Goodheart?) and making Jinpei/Keyop/Pee Wee a whiney kid and the Bad Music.
If they could combine the Battle of the Planets music with Gatchaman music that would be fine.
Keep the scripts and update the animation, that too would be great. If they tinker with the story, I would be very disappointed.
