When it comes to arguments, nobody loves a big stupid one like the internet. In the last couple of years, I’ve seen some of the most banal things create unbelievable strife, from the color of a dress to the imaginary school sect you should belong to. But worst of all, the one that pitted brother versus brother, tore families apart and left everyone frustrated and angry was whether or not to describe a hot dog as a sandwich…
…and now, we can ALL fight about it, leading us to today’s meat-on-bread query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) has never had the sense to avoid a good argument, but reminds all Spoilerites to keep it civil, asking: In your opinion, is a hot dog a sandwich or not?

Depends on how it is served. Plain or with a few condiments and I don’t really consider it a sandwich. But if you have a bunch of ingredients to the point the hot dog is only a fraction of the whole thing (like adding another meat or three, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, long pickle slices and a few other things the way a few of my friends make it), I’ll consider it a sandwich.
No, I do not. We got some things here that are pretty close to hot dogs in idea and what they contain and those aren’t sandwiches either.
Yes it is, just like a taco.
No I wouldn’t consider a hot dog a sandwich as my definition is meat between two slices of bread and a hot dog bun is one piece sliced in half.
Just like a Burger and a Sandwich are different on a fundamental level, so too are a hot-dog and a sandwich.
Nope – a sandwich requires at least two slices of bread. A hot dog I feel is closer related to a wrap, needing one at most.
But what if you are only eating half a sandwich, and you took one slice of bread and cut the slice in two? That would still technically be one slice of bread…
