In an interview with Variety, Nickelodeon announced that it is currently in the development stages for a television movie based on their popular 90s cartoon Hey Arnold! The movie is set to pick up directly where the television series left off and provide answers to series-long mysteries such as: where are Arnold’s parents?
Hey Arnold! creator Chris Viscardi was recently promoted to the position of Vice President of Content Development for Franchise Development, leading one to speculate that Hey Arnold! may only be the first of many popular series destined for revival in the coming years.
President of Content Development and Production at Nickelodeon Russell Hicks told Variety,
“Kids who grew up on these characters are now of the age that they are having kids and families themselves. Our library has come to fruition and it’s time for it to start coming back to life.”
Although no dates on a future Hey Arnold! movie have been set in stone by Nickelodeon this announcement, and what is promises to herald, is very interesting indeed.

I wasn’t a huge fan of the series at the time it aired, having mostly watched it with my brother back in those days without really paying attention. But about 10 years or so back, I started to really enjoy repeats of the show, and watched it somewhat regularly late nights the last few years. So I am certainly interested in the movie more now than I would have been back then.
