Heritage Auctions always has something interesting to sell, and its continued comic book finds and offerings always impress the heck out of me. Currently, the company is offering Journey Into Mystery #83 for anyone in the world to bid on, and the Near Mint 9.6 graded first appearance of The Mighty Thor will sell for more than $140,000.
Last year, we were fortunate enough to have offered a 9.4 “white pages” copy of this Marvel “Super” key issue, and it had been nine years prior to that when we sold our last copy in 9.4, and that one lacked the “white pages” designation. So you can imagine our elation at having this superlative specimen cross our path!
According to Overstreet’s Price Guide, there has never been an issue with a grade higher than 9.6 found, which means this Silver Age issue, with cover by Jack Kirby and interior art by Kirby and Steve Ditko is going to go for a crazy high price. And by crazy high price, I really mean, more than I’ll ever be able to afford.
The auction for this, and many other rare comics, is currently open at Heritage Auctions. Bidding for Journey Into Mystery #83 closes on November 19th.
