The multi-award winning Bloom County has returned in a surprise announcement from Berkeley Breathed.
The creator of the often political comic strip that originally ended in 1989, took to Facebook this weekend showing him working behind his desk, with the words, “A return after 25 years. Feels like going home.”
Though he hasn’t given a definitive answer to why the sudden return, Opus ran during the George W. Bush presidency, and then ended shortly after. With 16 (and counting) Presidential candidates currently in the race, this seems like the perfect time for Breathed to bring the series back.
This morning, Opus woke up from his fever dream.
Who else, besides us old people are excited about this?

I for one, found this to be the best part of Comic-Con and it wasn’t even there..
I am so damn psyched to have Opus back and Bill the Cat.. “ACKK!”
I’m not American so I first discovered Bloom County back in 2000 when I was going through a castle turned into a book store in a village made of book stores. I found and purchased a bunch of the collections, one of them even had a Billy and the Boingers record. I read it everyday on GoComics but it’s winding down the original run. I hope they will start showing the new strips.
