Tunnel Ground enters into a publishing agreement with Florida based comic book publisher Cosmic Times and links paperback comics to mobile gaming in the major market of the United States. The company introduces an in-game rewarding system accessible by buying limited edition paperback comics, which include redeem codes. As a consequence, the comics gain value over time and by usage of the redeem codes provide unique game features for the player. The comics create a deep connection with the game by providing additional details about the story and enhancing the player’s experience thanks to the redeem code system.
The first product line is named Void of Heroes and is set to be released in summer 2015. The publishers existing comics are also sold through the in-game sales platform. The presented technology has been developed in a project funded by Tekes – Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation and Finnish investors.
