Gotham has been a smash hit so far for FOX, with it being the highest fall debut in 14 years so it is no surprise FOX has given the order for more.
The Ben Mackenzie starring show has been given six more episodes for the first season, brining the total all the way to 22. Even after a huge audience turned out for the premiere episode, which shouldn’t be too surprising given the success of superhero movies as of late, Gotham has been able to hold on to those numbers week after week and continues to be the highest rated show on the FOX network.
Perhaps Gotham has hit a sweet spot of police drama with a comic book twist that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. couldn’t find over on ABC. Of course, this isn’t a knock on what Marvel is doing in the television department, but the show certainly hasn’t brought in the numbers, especially this year, that Gotham has been able to so far.
Gotham airs on Mondays on FOX.
