News out of the San Diego Comic Con this afternoon is good for Spider-Woman fans, as Marvel has announced a new ongoing series beginning in November.
Spider-Woman will initially co-star the latest spider-woman (small ‘s’, small ‘w’) to join the Marvel universe, Silk, a character introduced during Original Sin as the other person who was bitten by a radioactive spider back when Peter Parker got his powers.
The series will be written by Dennis Hopeless with Greg Land providing the art.
With Spider-Verse about to begin, and the demand for more female lead titles, this is the perfect time to get the spider-women of the Marvel U together to kick some butt. We know Ultimate Jessica Drew is supposed to make an appearance in the Spider-Verse event, and with other spider-types out there, I think a good ensemble book could come from this announcement.
Is anyone concerned about Greg Land doing the art? I know some have said he has moved past his “tracing of porn star days”, but I’m not so sure…

I’ve been a Spider-Woman since the first run and animated series. I’ve been hoping for a new ongoing for awhile now, but with Greg Land on art, I can’t pull the trigger. I don’t understand how the guy keeps getting work.
