    TOY FAIR: Diamond Select Toys Minimates

    Diamond Select Toys showcased their new Minimates figures coming in 2014. Expanding their Minimates brand, the new lines will not only feature comic book characters but also Minimates from popular television shows and movies. Like previous release, most of the new Minimates will come in packages of two figures or four figures. Two figure packages will retail at $9.99 while the four figure packages will retail at $19.99.

    With several Marvel movies coming out in 2014, Diamond Select Toys will debut Minimate lines in conjunction with each movie release. Starting off in April 2014 will be a line of Captain America: The Winter Soldier Minimates. These set of 12 figures will include movie versions of Captain America, Black Widow, Falcon, Crossbones, The Winter Soldier and Batroc the Leaper. Also due out April 2014 will be a set of Spiderman movie Minimates. This set will include Spiderman, Gwen Stacy, Sandman, Electro and Green Goblin. Finally, Guardians of the Galaxy will receive a wave of Minimates due out later this year. Some of the figures in this set will be Starlord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket Raccoon and Groot.

    Some of Quentin Tarantino’s movie characters will receive a Minimate treatment this year. Starting on June 2014, Kill Bill Minimates will start with a set of four House of Leaves set featuring The Bride, O-Ren, Sofie Fatale and GoGo. Then, in Fall 2014, The Kill Bill Minimates will have a set of four for the Crazy 88s and a Series 2 box set. Another Tarantino movie that will have Minimate figures is Pulp Fiction. Starting from Fall 2014, Minimates will release a 2 figure set of Vince and Jules as well as a Series 1 set of four figures. Then, in the Winter 2015, Series 2 will come out with another set of four.

    Besides Quentin Tarentino movies getting the Minimate treatment, Kevin Smith movie characters will receive a line of MiniMates coming in May 2014. This series will include a 2-pack Mooby and Buddy Christ figures, a Clerks four figure box set and a second series of Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back 2-pack figures. Another movie Minimates will release figures for is Sin City due out in August 2014. In packs of four figures, this line will include Marv, Hartigan, Kevin, Nancy, the Yellow Bastard and other characters from the Frank Miller comic. Finally, the Aliens franchise will get Minimates as well. First in the Summer 2014, Diamond Select Toys will release a 12 figure set, retailed at $71.98, as well as a 35th Anniversary box set of four figures. Then in the Fall 2014, an Aliens franchise series 1 box set will come out.

    Other Minimate figures coming out in 2014 will be Walking Dead, Godzilla, Plants versus Aliens, Diamond Select Toys original comic series Battle Beasts and a best of series for Marvel Minimates.
