Warner Bros. is taking a crack at the classic Peter Pan story, and adding a twist to it. In this case, it’s an origin story for the boy who would never grow up. Don’t worry, Hook is in the story, but the big news is that Hugh Jackman is playing the pirate Blackbeard in the flick.
As far as origin stories go, I’ve seen worse. In Pan, Peter is kidnapped during World War II and brought to Neverland where he has to serve the dread pirate Blackbeard (Hugh Jackman). Hook, played by Garrett Hedlund, and Peter (still not cast) become friends as they attempt to escape and bring down Blackbeard.
It looks like Warner Bros. is trying to turn this into a huge franchise ala Harry Potter. Pan is scheduled to arrive in theaters on July 17, 2015.

Well, this is interesting. I do loves me some Hugh Jackman (Huge Ackman). “Fantasy” movies aren’t doing too bad – Snow White and the Huntsman wasn’t terrible, I’m interested to see Maleficent when it comes.
And I’ll say – I certainly enjoyed “Hook” as a live-action Pan movie.
