Guillermo del Toro’s The Strain novel trilogy and comic book series published by Dark Horse Comics is getting an extended life as The Strain jumps off the comic page an onto the small screen from FX.
The network has ordered a 13-episode adaptation of the vampire tale that will be written by del Toro and Chuck Hogan.
“The Strain” is billed as a high concept thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers, wage war for the fate of humanity itself.
The story is very creepy, and could be super intense for the cable network’s audience. According to Variety, the series will arrive in July 2014.

Finally a vampire show I can actually watch. But didn’t FX option Powers a year or two back and it never made it on air?
