Audiences may equate the name Aaron Taylor-Johnson with his roles in Kick-Ass and Savages, but we will all soon be referring to him as Pietro Maximoff. Yes, Taylor-Johnson will be playing Quicksilver in the Whedon helmed sequel. Read Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige comments on the unique position that Quicksilver is in studio ownership wise after the jump.
You may know that the character of Pietro Maximoff will be making an appearance in the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past. How can both Marvel and Fox be using the same character in their films? Well, Kevin Feige took the time to explain the unique agreement to Superhero Hype.
We both have them. There’s a specific arrangement with those two characters that would allow us to use them with ‘Avengers,’ but not discuss or reference their mutant or Magneto-related lineage. They can use them as mutants and as Magneto’s relatives, but cannot have anything to do with ‘The Avengers.’
When Feige says “them” he is referring to Pietro’s sister Wanda (The Scarlet Witch), who will also be making an appearance in Avengers: The Age of Ultron.
It’s sad that more deals like this weren’t created for other characters from the Marvel Universe that Fox or Sony currently holds the movie rights to. Seeing Spider-Man or Wolverine join the ranks of the Avengers for a film would certainly be a crazy money-making ride for all parties involved.
