According to Rob Thomas, the Kickstarter Veronica Mars movie will be the start of a new franchise.
“We want the film to be the start of something” and “wanted to go big” to launch a new series of stories around Kristen Bell’s title character. Thomas is also writing a new series of novels that will be published around the release of the movie.
After the massive amount of funding the movie received through Kickstarter, it isn’t a surprise the movie made it through production so quickly. According to sources, there are only a few more days of filming before moving into post-production.
