Everyone can let out a sigh of relief over the announcement from Michael Bay that the turtles in his upcoming Ninja Turtles movie are not going to be aliens.
In an interview with Moviefone, the director stated, “There was that quote saying that we’re making [the Ninja Turtles as]aliens. We’re not. It’s the ooze! It’s from the original source material. These are from the original writers, and I never went out to correct myself in the press. I do listen to the fans and I do want this to be authentic. I think they’re going to be really happy with this movie. When I see the digital stuff, the turtles look great.”
So with that out of the way, we can all get back to worrying about how good the story is right? RIGHT!? It’s not like we are all sitting around gossiping about how good the graphics are going to be, or how large the explosions are, right? In the end the story is what is going to matter, and whether it is a guy in a suit, a CGI rendered masterpiece, or a car that transforms into a turtle, if there isn’t a reason to tell a TMNT story, then everything should be scrapped.

Damage control engaged!
I’m surprised by the lack of explosions in this interview. Are you sure it is actually Michael Bay?
