Ubisoft continues to move the Assassin’s Creed movie closer to production, and this morning we learn that Ubisoft, New Regency, and Fox have signed their lead actor.
Previous reports were only speculation and talk, but we have learned today that Michael Fassbender has been hired to play the hero in the big screen adaptation of the video game. Not only will Fassbender star, but he will serve as a co-producer for the film. With so many companies and producers involved in the movie, it seems like risk is not something too many people want to get into in getting this movie to the big screen, and that i somewhat confirmed by Ubisoft’s CEO of Motion Pictures, Jean-Julien Baronnet, who said they want as many people involved on the creative side, without taking too much of a risk.
With the success of Assassin’s Creed game, it would seem that there is little risk in making the movie a success on the big screen, but we all saw what happened with Prince of Persia, Dungeons and Dragons, Doom, and Super Mario Bros. Though in the end it isn’t the fault of the property, but rather those on the creative side telling the story.
