So I’ve been hinting since March of this year that there was a project Scott Johnson and I were working on that we were waiting for the stars to align, and they finally have in a new monthly podcast from the Frogpants Podcast Network – Comic Dorks. Those who attended Nerdtacular 2012 got a few more hints, as Scott Johnson, Marc Spagnuolo, and myself made broad references to “the show”. Now that PvP creator Scott Kurtz’s schedule has opened, the show is ready to go!
While this is a podcast that runs through the FPN, you will see it appear on the Major Spoilers site when each new episode is announced.

Frogpants, LLC is proud to announce that Comic Dorks, staring Scott Johnson, Stephen Schleicher, Scott Kurtz, & Marc Spagnuolo, is about to launch on the Frogpants Podcast Network!
“We’re all comic book lovers”, says Johnson, “with a lot to say about the current state of the comics world and where things might end up one day. Seems like the perfect combination of people and platform for a new monthly show to me.”
“I’m ready to read some comics, talk about said comics, and then make a joke or two about Mr. Johnson. So I think I’m pretty much good to go!”, said Spagnuolo of the new venture.
“I can’t wait…plus, there’s always time to be angry about comic books. Let’s do this.”, says Kurtz. “I’m pumped. Should be a lot of fun!”
“Wait… we get to make fun of Scott Johnson!? Now I’m super pumped!”, remarked Schleicher. “Now if we get to work the words “wood” “Johnson” and “Scott Kurtz” into a single sentence, the Intardwebz ear holes will be spinning!”
On each monthly episode of Comic Dorks, the boys will talk about the books they’re reading, industry news, and the state of comics in general.
“There’s so much to talk about in regard to print vs digital, what the big publishers are doing to try and keep our devotion.”, said Johnson. “Comic Dorks aims to be the kind of show and conversation that will invite lots of external conversion with listeners and fans.”
Comic Dorks, episode one, will launch on October 1st 2012, and be available via iTunes, comicdorks.com, and wherever you stream or download your favorite shows.
“Right now we are planning on a monthly release schedule, kind of like the comics you read, but if things really take off, who knows what will happen.” said Johnson. “We can’t wait to get cranking and put this thing out for comic fans to hear!”

My worlds are colliding! I was reading PVP and listening to the latest MSP when I read this tweet. I don’t know Spagnuolo yet, but I’m a huge fan of Johnson, Kurtz and, of course, Schleicher. Yay!
If you are into any kind of woodworking, Marc is the man, and has a fantastic video podcast that shows what niche podcasting is all about. Plus, he loves comics.
Thanks for the kind words Stephen! I’m definitely the “who’s that guy?” of this podcast. lol
What lenght per Show are you thinking about?
Don’t know – Scott Johnson is the producer, but I expect 30 minutes to an hour.
So. Awesome. To. Hear. Very much looking forward to this.
This is going to be legend….. wait for it….
… of Korra?
Fantastic news …
Gtz – that is awesome.
So how is this different than the Major Spoilers podcast? The Wednesday show has news and reviews of what the MSP crew is reading, and the Weekend type edition has been about the state of comics at times.
Major Spoilers Podcast – Major Spoilers Podcast Network
Comic Dorks – Frogpants Podcast Network
Different shows/different producers and content networks with the only common vector being one co-host appears on both. Will there be similarities? Perhaps at times depending on the hot topic, but seeing the rundown of the first episode, it feels like a different show. Will Comic Dorks affect Major Spoilers? We hope so as added exposure should draw more people to the site and to the various podcasts Major Spoilers produces. That’s one of the reasons Scott and I like working together, and one of the reasons why I appear on The Morning Stream on Mondays to talk about the news of the week.
That is a good question: Will the existence of a new monthly FrogPants comic show featuring Scott, Stephen, and Marc change the dynamic and/or theme of the twice-weekly MSP Podcast featuring Stephen, Rodrigo, and Matthew that we’ve grown to love?
They are both very different shows with different producers on each, so MSP and CD will remain quite different. Will the dynamic change? Not any more than it has since I’ve been appearing on The Morning Stream every Monday for the last year and a half…
