When Iron Man 2 went into production, the studio tried dialing back the budget, and in the process, dropped Terrance Howard from the cast. With the success of The Avengers, Disney is taking the opposite approach, it’s throwing money at Iron Man 3.
Production is already underway on Iron Man 3, which appears to be based on the Extremis storyline. The pressure is on director Shane Black, and to help him out, Marvel Studios has raised the budget from $140 million to $200 million. Where will that money go?
Special effects is my guess, though Robert Downey, Jr. is said to have already made a pretty penny from the Iron Man and The Avengers franchises, so that money could be going to up salaries for other actors, including Ben Kingsley, Rebecca Hall, and others.
Iron Man 3 is scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 03, 2013.

I believe you mean Don Cheadle was hired instead of the previous more expensive guy, Terrence Howard.
Duh… corrected and fixed…
Maybe some of the money is going toward putting The Hulk into the film? Stark and Banner were buddies by the end of the Avengers, and I think people were surprised by how much they like Ruffalo. And, it might even provide impetus to get a Hulk movie somewhere down the line.
Would be an awesome excuse to debut the Hulkbuster Armor, but everyone is insisting the story is going to draw more from Extremis.
Ruffalo’s already signed on to reprise his role as Hulk at least 6 more times, so there’s likely to be at least another 1-2 Hulk movies.
Enh they were okay. I remember a storyline where an LMD took over, I mean how can you screw that up?
Crimson Rourkeio was dumb.
