My take on Matthew’s take is that Elmo always refers to himself narcissistically in the third person and his schizophrenia manifests itself in ‘Elmo’s World,’ a fantasy realm populated with talking objects that are normally inanimate. The narcissism is underscored by the fact the the fantasy world bears Elmo’s name, and outside the talking objects is populated by no other person/monster other than Elmo.

So, this is why they can’t release the original Sesame Street cartoons on DVD…
What is Matthew’s theory on that? I always thought Elmo was holding down the roster, a mental disorder would explain everything.
