I completely missed this one this week (probably because of that holiday thing that always gets in the way this time of year), but the Original Johnson from IDW Publishing looks to be a great story to close out the year.
In 1908, Jack Johnson beat a white boxer for the heavyweight world championship, sparking racial clashes around the country. Between his conquests across the color line both in and out of the boxing ring, this son of former slaves came to embody the struggle again racism that still plagues society today and an inspiration for generations of people fighting discrimination and inequality.
This is only the first volume of a series that is a collaboration between IDW Publishing and ComicMix. The second volume will be released in 2010. Did anyone pick the first volume up this week?
