Gotta love the state of the world economy. The land down under was once the go to spot for movie production companies keen on saving a few bucks here and there to keep production costs blooming to ridiculously silly amounts. But with the weakened U.S. dollar, Warner Bros. is pulling out of shooting in Australia with plans to shoot in Canada, Mexico, and possibly Louisiana.
Producers have quietly been scouting locations in the U.S. and Canada for the comic book adaptation directed by Martin Campbell and starring Ryan Reynolds, though efforts seem to be zeroing in on Louisiana. Producer Donald De Line and other key creative personnel have made scouting trips to the state during the past two weeks and have put a hold on stages, though in what part of the state remains unclear.
The Green Lantern movie is still on track for a 2011 release.
