I really don’t know what kind of chaos is going on with the Seth Rogen Green Hornet movie, but originally Stephen Chow was set to play the side-kick Kato, and direct the action/comedy. Some sort of tussle over creative differences has Chow bowing out of the directing duties, but now it looks like Michel Gondry is in talks to step in.
The choice of Gondry, the helmer behind off-the-beaten-path films such as “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” “The Science of Sleep” and “Be Kind Rewind,” signals that the creative direction the studio and the film’s producer, Neal Moritz, are trying to take the project is one not usually associated with the usual crime-fighter movie.
This project was announced back in 2007, but without a signed director, Green Hornet remains in Pre-Pro Hell.

I had no previous interest in seeing this movie but I really like Gondry. He has such a unique and tactile interpretation of film that if he does end up directing, I’d see it.
