Let’s play a game of What If? What if you travelled back to 1988 and convinced Tim Burton that instead of hiring Michael Keaton, he should hire Bill Murray to don the big rubber mask? It almost happened – apparently, at least that’s the way Bill Murray recounts it in a recent interview with MTV.
I would have been a fine Batman. You know, there have been a number of Batmen. I like them. … I thought Mike Keaton did a great job as Batman. It’s obviously — it’s a great role.
I could see Bill Murray as Bruce Wayne, just look at Dr. Venkman, and tell me he wouldn’t have been able to pull off a smarmy billionaire playboy? Of course that means the Batdance theme by Prince would probably have been written by Ray Parker, Jr. “Who You Gonna Call? – BATMAN!”
I’m sticking to that fantasy theme song, so there.

As much as I like Bill Murray, I’m glad he never donned the cowl.
I still think Val Kilmer could’ve played an excellent Matt Murdock, though.
You know who I think would play a great Batman? George Cloo-
Er, nevermind. Glad it never happened but still picturing it in my head, I think I’d rank Peter Venkman’s Batman somewhere behind Clooney and Adam West.
